Cambodian Fashion Week.
I just discovered a new fashion blog @styleanywhere - it covers international street styles, including my very own Cambodia!
Mainly was drawn to it since my friend’s store, The Academy (which is based in Long Beach, CA) premiered their first runway show last week there & got coverage, amazing coverage.
So proud. And rather envious since I have yet to visit the country my parents came from. The country where I would find myself living in too, if, well, if they never escaped.
PS. I’ve never stepped foot in Cambodia, since my mother carried her pregnant self (with great speed) to have me born in the border town of Thailand during Pol Pot’s ongoing rule in the 80s. I would love to visit Thailand too. I was there for maybe under a year before we set sail on the Mayflower towards the New England coast town known as Plymouth Rock, just like the Pilgrims. Alright, just kidding. We flew to Virginia. But I pretty much tell this same parallel story to myself & others who ask of my immigrant beginnings. It is interesting how similar all Americans are, new & old.
