Where should I live? I'm liberal. I don't like snow, but I'm not a fan of extreme heat either. Musician with other skills. Recently divorced. Would like access to museums, universities, live music (very important), public transportion and an airport with direct flights. Ideas?
I’m a die-hard fan of Los Angeles, so I might come off as biased. The weather is mostly sunny & never too much heat unless you are unfortunately stuck for a few days without modern a/c or enough gas to obtain a beachy breeze. The people are beyond liberal, they’re artistic. At least, my romanticism of them are. And Divorces are as common as potholes on the streets where buses congest the traffic as much as luxury cars.
I love the art scene here, as well as the booming music scenes of the East (Silverlake, Hollywood, even Long Beach really) and without a doubt, there’s direct flights taking off at LAX every hour to anywhere imaginable.
The only place I’d say comes close is San Francisco. Good luck with your housing hunt.
I have been almost speechless and too busy being giddy like a child upon reading this wonderfully written piece that I delayed my response in fear I may still sound like a child… Thank you Paul and Sean. Your words have set an extremely high bar to all — including those mentioned here — to live up to. I value it immensely and being called a “geek” in this now booming digital world is perhaps the biggest compliment a girl can get, especially when it is amongst the ranks of such talented male geeks such as yourself.
Thank you @fromAna! It means a lot to have a friend who’ve I’ve worked with since 2005 to always be as encouraging, supportive, and just a stand-out positive light in my life always! Great joke on the @foursquare thing ;-) It’s true, I do pack a mean punch…just look at my chipped nail polish…
