Where should I live? I'm liberal. I don't like snow, but I'm not a fan of extreme heat either. Musician with other skills. Recently divorced. Would like access to museums, universities, live music (very important), public transportion and an airport with direct flights. Ideas?
I’m a die-hard fan of Los Angeles, so I might come off as biased. The weather is mostly sunny & never too much heat unless you are unfortunately stuck for a few days without modern a/c or enough gas to obtain a beachy breeze. The people are beyond liberal, they’re artistic. At least, my romanticism of them are. And Divorces are as common as potholes on the streets where buses congest the traffic as much as luxury cars.
I love the art scene here, as well as the booming music scenes of the East (Silverlake, Hollywood, even Long Beach really) and without a doubt, there’s direct flights taking off at LAX every hour to anywhere imaginable.
The only place I’d say comes close is San Francisco. Good luck with your housing hunt.
